Adding wallpaper to a room can instantly change the look and feel of a space.
All of our wallpapers at House of Amitié feature a marbled design which we feel not only adds an artisan touch to your space but also gives the room a timeless elegance.
Marbling has been around for hundreds of years and has been popular choice for interior decoration for decades, so we like to think that our unique designs are the antithesis of fleeting trends and instead can give a room a classic heirloom feel. Added to this the fact that Non-woven wallpapers can be quite durable means there is less need to replace your wallpaper often.
Our strong and ever growing range of colours, patterns and finishes, we hope, will give you plenty of choice but if you cannot find the right colour then you might like to consider our custom colour service which is available for both our 'Moucheté' and 'Flourish' patterns.
Due to its bold and impactful style marbled wallpapers work well in small spaces or used in more unusual ways, for example, to cover a ceiling rather than the walls. Smaller off-cuts you might have left over can also be put to excellent use to line shelving or drawers.
Sustainability is a key factor for us and our Eco non-woven is a better choice than traditional wallpaper options because its made with a mix of natural and synthetic fibres and avoids materials like vinyl, which are harmful to the environment. They also have the benefit that they are free from PVC and breathable, aiding in the prevention of mold and mildew and
contributing to a healthier home environment.
Our printing method also utilizes water-based inks which are less toxic and more environmentally friendly than solvent based inks.
Another benefit of 'Non-Woven' is that they offer a better wallpapering experience as paste is applied to the wall rather than the paper, this makes it quicker and easier to hang as you don't have to deal with long strips of pasted and sticky paper. Wet paper is harder to accurately join and bubbles can form more easily.
Since non-woven paper is stronger, even when it is wet, it retains it's shape.
Gone are the days of scraping off old wallpaper that's stuck to the walls as non-woven is also dry strippable.
Darker palettes like our Serpentine - Noir can create a cosy space and due to the Mica finish looks striking in a room with the flicker of candlelight bouncing off the Mica.
Fresher designs like Aurora in Opal and Serpentine in Spring will make a space feel bright and cheerful so are perfect for bedrooms and kitchens.
The added benefit of our Mica wallpapers is that they contain fibrous strands which can help give a room texture and give the papers an almost handmade feel as well as making them extremely tactile.
A few frequently asked questions:
What is non-woven?
'non-woven' is paper backed and made from a combination of natural and synthetic fibres rather than vinyl.
Are the papers suitable for commercial projects?
All our wallpapers have a fire certification pass rating of B-s1-d0 according to the Construction Products Regulation, which allows them to be hung anywhere in a commercial building.
The Declaration of Performance and CE markings on our labels confirm compliance with European standards.
All our wallpapers achieve the highest air quality result, which is VOC Emissions Class Label of A+, based on the French regulations décret DEVL1101903D & arrêté DEVL1104875A.
How do I know how much wallpaper I need?
The best way to work out coverage is to use an online wallpaper calculator and there are many to choose from but this one below we find is a great tool.
Remember to make sure you account for doors and windows and importantly check the wallpaper repeat in our product descriptions as not the whole roll will be completely usable.
Its always advisable to order more than what you need, about 10%, to allow for mistakes, pattern matching and waste (we have lots of ideas of what you can do with small pieces so do email us!)
Lastly if you are thinking of pairing your wallpaper alongside some painted walls our colourful designs offer a multitude of options, white walls create a clean and bright backdrop that allows the wallpaper to shine but coloured walls can create warmth and a harmonious look.
We love paints by Fenwick & Tilbrook, a Norfolk based and family run independent paint brand.
